Filament Hospitality is a collaboration of seasoned industry veterans with varied and deep experience across all sectors of the hotel industry including operations, ownership, investment, private equity and development.
It was founded with the objective of assisting independent owners to develop industry leading and profitable hotel operations through a unique combination of Filament's innovation, creativity and industry experience. In mid-2014 Filament partnered with Erik Warner and Stephen Chan (the founders of Eagle Point) to grow the company to the East Coast as well as take advantage of their private equity, hotel investment, and asset management expertise. The collaboration has created a new iteration of Filament, one that is more powerful and deep because of the multitude of complementary backgrounds and increased experience in every vein of the hotel sector.
This new platform has a combination of skill sets that span from real estate acquisitions and financing through purchasing, project management support to providing full operational support with asset management or full property management. Over 50 years of combined experience working on hospitality projects with companies like Joie de Vivre Hotels, Rosewood Hotels & Resorts, Basecamp Hotels and Intercontinental Hotels. The Filament team has worked together for almost 10 years at one of the most successful lifestyle hotel companies in the world, where they created and launched over 23 unique independent hotels.
New York based Eagle Point Hotel Partners (EPHP): EPHP was founded by Erik Warner and Stephen Chan to make value-added investments in hotel real estate, through aligning pro-active with hands-on hotel real estate specialists and institutional capital. EPHP seeks superior risk adjusted returns from investments and to-date, they and their partners have invested and/or scheduled to deploy over $400 million of equity into hotel investments located across the US.
Partner / President
Ingrid Summerfield most recently served as President and Chief Operating Officer of California's largest boutique hotel company Joie de Vivre (www.jdvhotels.com
). During her 18 years with Joie de Vivre, Ingrid served in a variety of positions and was in charge of developing the systems that took a 6 hotel operation to the second largest boutique hotel company in the country generating $250 million dollars in annual revenues. In her most recent role she was responsible for Hotel Operations, Food & Beverage, Spa, Marketing, Sales, Revenue Management, Technology and Human Resources.
Chief Financial Officer
Michael is responsible for the overall financial leadership, strategy and accounting processes Filament. He has been in the hospitality industry for over 33 years and is a forward-thinking executive with proven success in planning and directing financial operations and controls to improve fiscal performance, boost profits, and ensure long-range stability.
Partner / Development Officer
Stephen's last role was as Vice President of Acquisitions and Development with HEI Hotels & Resorts, a leading owner-operator of full-service hotels with investments totaling over $2.5 billion through three discretionary hotel real estate funds. During his five year association with HEI, Stephen rose from feasibility manager to Vice President of Acquisitions and Development, responsible for sourcing acquisition opportunities and co-leading the firm's proactive prospecting efforts. Stephen was actively involved in the acquisition of 14 hotels, covering approximately $1.2 billion in transaction value.
Partner / Acquisitions and Finance Officer
Erik is currently one of two partners in Eagle Point Hotel Partners. The purpose of the platform is to make value-added investments in hotel real estate thru aligning pro-active with hands-on hotel real estate specialists and institutional capital. Erik's last role was a principal and managing director in a Cargill backed entity called RHF (Ramsfield Hospitality Finance). He was brought on to assist the Managing Principal in creating and setting up the entity while acting as the in-house hotel expert.
Vice President of Operations
Rick Patten is a well-rounded hotel operator with over 25 years of experience from both single unit General Management to multi-property management. Rick’s last role was with Broughton Hotels as Vice President of Operations, overseeing 12 boutique hotels in California and Chicago, including repositioning three hotels in the Los Angeles market; Sportsmen’s Lodge in Studio City, Hotel Normandie in Koreatown and The Moment Hotel in Hollywood.
Vice President of Revenue
Helga fell in love with the hospitality industry as a line level employee at the Ritz-Carlton, Marina del Rey. Since then, and over the course of the last 22 years, she set out to accomplish her goal of getting to know what it took to successfully operate a property. During this time, she has been exposed to several brands (Hilton, Hyatt, Starwood, Millennium and Marriott) and also independents (Ian Schrager Hotels, Hanford Hotels, Broughton); holding positions from Front Desk, Reservations, F&B, Sales and Revenue Management.
Terri Shearer has over 25 years experience in the hospitality industry including hotel management, operations, food and beverage management, human resources, training, project management, purchasing and business development. In 1985 Terri started her career with Rosewood Hotels & Resorts, a five-star hotel company based in Dallas, Texas, as a food and beverage manager. After a number of years in operations, she joined the development team and traveled internationally to set up and open hotels as well as train new staff on Rosewood's standard of service.
Monika Herz served as project manager at Joie de Vivre, successfully managing the renovations and relaunch process of multiple projects during the biggest growth spurt of the company. Her experience in hotel and restaurant renovations and her keen attention to detail make Monika a valuable resource to help create a project budget and timeline, set up the project team, and actively manage the coordination process during the renovation.
